In 1926, the National Forensic League began publishing the Bulletin notifying members of general league activities. In simplified pamphlet form, the Bulletin focused upon league procedures and activities of the NFL National Council. Through the years, the Bulletin evolved into what is now called Rostrum.Rostrum experienced editorial changes; from past-Senator NFL President Karl Mundt, to a rotating post held by a high school senior, back to being the responsibility of the Executive Director of the league. What was once a small publication that primarily focused on the National Forensic League’s activities has grown to become the "voice" of the NFL family.
Through expansion of NFL events, membership growth, and reader expectations, Rostrum has shifted from a four page Bulletin to a full-blown magazine of special interests.
The focus of Rostrum has shifted to forensic education. Readers can now appreciate articles written by coaches and students sharing personal first-hand experience; up-to-date announcements regarding rule changes and new events; upcoming workshops, institutes, and camps advertised by a reputable group of professionals; and district and national tournament results including standings of both schools and students.
