Tom Montgomery,
53, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 of a heart attack.

Tom coached at Lodi High School, CA. His passion was speech, and for 27 years he dedicated his life to helping his students become successful through his speech and debate classes.

In 1993 Tom was inducted into the California State Speech Coach Hall of Fame and in 2003, Tom was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Our sympathy goes out to Tom's wife Shirley, daughters, Andrea Cunningham and Meghan Bullington and granddaughter, Kira Cunningham.Tom was a great NFL coach and served the league well as the co-chair of National Speech Tab. It was an honor knowing and working with Tom.

Carrie Scott, NFL coach at Duncan High School passed away on April 5, 2004. The Western Oklahoma District of NFL, along with the entire speech community of Oklahoma, lost a dear friend and lifelong supporter of the speech and dramatic arts.

All who knew Carrie feel this loss, send good wishes to her family and friends, and continue to see every day spent in this activity as a worthwhile endeavor, based on Carrie's loving example.

Carrie herself competed in high school speech and drama, going to the state level of competition each year. While in college at Cameron University (OK), Carrie won gold (top 10%) in Poetry and Prose in the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament held in New Jersey. Carrie galvanized the speech and theatre department at Duncan HS, (OK) sending numerous students to NFL nationals, placing students in the finals of humorous interp twice, winning the traveling trophy, and snaring numerous Sweepstakes awards along the way.

Carrie will be remembered for the positive impact she had on the lives of everyone who knew her, students and speech colleagues alike. Her NFL Diamond Key Coach Award has been awarded posthumously and fittingly commends Carrie to the speech community to which she gave so much.
