Now Debate This! is a national scholarship competition taking place this summer. Sixteen of the best and brightest will be selected to spend their summer studying the lives and legacies of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. At the end of their studies, they will debate who the better President was. The winner will receive a full scholarship to the college of their choice. It's the perfect opportunity for NFL participants. Check it out at www.nowdebatethis.comAll sixteen contestants will receive a $3,500 dollar summer stipend, a new laptop and video camera. Then, the real debates begin. On August 9, the 16 will go head to head, debating the legacies of both Presidents? The top winners will win scholarships of up to $25,000. NFL and IDEA offer a national competition opportunity for any student enrolled in grades 6, 7, or 8 in an NJFL chapter school who qualifies through participation in oral communication activities. This tournament is similar to the LFG/NFL National Tournament and is held in a new location each year. This year, the 2008 NJFL Nationals will be held at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Without IDEA, this tournament would not be possible and we thank them for their partnership to bring national merit to middle school forensics.
IDEA has partnered with the NFL to help enable the organization to host international students at the LFG/NFL National Tournament in June. This partnership started in 2004 through a U.S. State Department grant which funded international students from Argentina, China, Haiti, Moldova, Russia, South Africa, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe and allowed them compete in an international division of Public Forum debate. Now, the relationship has evolved to include a guest country competing every year at the National Tournament. By opening the National Tournament to students from all over the world, including guest countries such as Korea and Singapore, NFL achieves international outreach.

Encouraging the use of debate as a framework for discussion, the NFL/UNF has partnered to create The People Speak Global Debates. Any U.S. or international high school is eligible to participate.
Bickel & Brewer in partnership with NFL provides members a chance to participate in the National Public Policy Forum (NPPF). The NPPF is the first national competition that gives students the opportunity to participate in oral and written debates on issues of public policy. The NPPF is available to all high schools for free, and yet offers substantial rewards, both in terms of experience and prizes. Now in its sixth year, the NPPF is growing at a record pace.
Continuing to educate its members with as many teaching and learning resources as possible, the NFL has partnered with The National Debate Coaches Association to provide members with access to thousands of free policy debate evidence files.
