National Tournament Media Release Policy

1. After the conclusion of the tournament, national office staff will e-mail electronic media releases to coaches of all national tournament qualifiers. This comprehensive media release will name all award winners. The release will be posted on our Web site and will remain available in perpetuity as a free download.

2. National office staff will also create and distribute a customizable media release template so that coaches who wish to create a specific media release may easily do so. The media release template will be posted on our Web site and will remain available in perpetuity as a free download.

3. Coaches are strongly encouraged to forward these releases to school administrators, parents, media contacts, and other community stakeholders. Hard copy media releases will be sent by request only.

Why electronic media releases?
1. Timeliness. This policy will enable staff to distribute media releases immediately following the national tournament. Under the hard-copy policy, this process took days or even weeks.

2. Accessibility. Electronic press releases are easier to share and distribute than hard copy releases. For this reason, many people – including media contacts -- prefer electronic releases.
