International Debate Education Association
Focusing on young people and their communities, the mission of the International Debate Education Association is to promote mutual understanding and democracy globally by supporting discussion and active citizenship locally.
NFHS - Speech, Debate, Theatre
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) serves its members and related professional groups by promoting participation and sportsmanship to develop good citizens through interscholastic activities which provide equitable opportunities, positive recognition and learning experiences to students while maximizing the achievement of educational goals and reducing risks of participation. Several of the state associations below are members of the NFHS.
Pi Kappa Delta
Pi Kappa Delta was established at Ripon College in 1913 as a means of proving recognition for orators and debaters in the smaller colleges. Pi Kappa Delta is the collegiate honorary society equivalent of the NFL for high schools, or the NJFL for middle schools. In 2011, PKD unveiled its point recording system for college students, which allows NFL graduates to transfer-in a fraction of their NFL high school points.
Urban Debate Leagues
The National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL) is partnered to extend NFL membership benefits to debaters and coaches in urban debate league schools. The NAUDL serves urban public school systems with approximately 87% people of color and 78% low-income student populations. Eligibility is recognized primarily by those who define their province as urban, as long as their student demographic includes no less than 40% of Title I (i.e., economically disadvantaged) students. National Debate Coaches Association
The National Debate Coaches Association (NDCA) provides opportunities for high school coaches to strengthen their abilities in order to provide stronger learning environments for their students. The NDCA's Open Evidence Project compiles Policy Debate and Lincoln-Douglas evidence from a variety of workshops.
Educational Theatre Association
The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA)was founded in 1929 and is the professional association for theatre education. The EdTA mission is to make theatre a part of lifelong learning. The Association’s major areas of effort—educational development, teacher training, and advocacy—serve to accomplish this mission by helping to improve the learning environment in the theatre arts.
